Our Mission
At PetPause, our mission is simple but urgent:
To ensure that no one in crisis ever has to give up their beloved pet.
We are the UK’s first dedicated emergency pet foster care network, built to protect the human-animal bond during life’s most difficult moments — hospital stays, mental health emergencies, domestic abuse, homelessness, or grief.
Why We Exist
Every day in the UK, people face personal crises where their pets become unintended casualties. Without family or friends to step in, animals are often surrendered to shelters or even euthanised.
We knew there had to be a better way.
PetPause was created to be that better way.
A compassionate, fast-response service that offers temporary care for pets — and peace of mind for the people who love them.
Our Story
Founded in 2025 by animal lovers and volunteers, PetPause was born from a shared frustration:
Too many good pet owners were being forced to choose between their wellbeing and their pets.
What started as a grassroots initiative is now a nationwide, volunteer-powered movement offering short-term pet fostering across the UK.

Animal welfare expert with 12+ years in shelter reform and crisis housing. Passionate about trauma-informed care for both humans and animals.

Mental health nurse and domestic abuse advocate ensuring our services stay safe, inclusive, and ethical.

Leads recruitment, vetting, and training of our amazing foster carers across the UK.
